Total solar eclipse

Total Solar Eclipse — August 12, 2026

The Moon completely covers the Sun within the narrow path of totality.

Where will it be visible?

Totality crosses Greenland, Iceland, Spain, Russia, and a small part of Portugal; a partial eclipse is visible across much of Europe and other regions.

Exact visibility and timing depend on your city. Check a local astronomical forecast before observing.

Safe viewing

Never look at a partial or annular solar eclipse with the naked eye. Use a solar viewer compliant with ISO 12312-2; cameras and telescopes require their own purpose-built filters.
